The Touch Sensor Modules detect and trace objects by detecting diffusely reflected infrared light. The Touch Sensor Module comprises an optical system arranged to combine emitted IR beams and receiver fields of view within the same apertures. IR light beams are emitted perpendicular to the output window, while an axis of symmetry for each receiver field of view is oriented at an angle θ. Each emitter-receiver combination represents a reflection at the point of intersection of the path of the projected light beam with the oriented axis of symmetry. An object present in the active area will affect several emitter-receiver channels, and the reported coordinates are the outcome of a triangulated center of gravity calculation on these signals. Benefits of Neonode zForce Optical Reflective Technology include high scanning frequency and low latency, high accuracy and low system power.
